AYANA LAUNCHES EXTENSION OF ROCK BAR AMID 1ST ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS
BALI, 6 August 2010
AYANA Resort and Spa Bali has launched an extension of the successful Rock Bar, to meet demand both from guests staying at the resort and those visiting from outside to experience the iconic venue’s breathtaking views and world-class entertainment.
The launch coincided with the Rock Bar’s 1st Anniversary party on 5 August, when American alternative rock band Third Eye Blind headlined a night of jamming on the rocks.
The extension includes new ocean-front viewing platforms which add another 75 seats to the venue, alongside a second service bar and expanded kitchen and bathroom facilities. The resort is also upgrading the inclinator, to enable increased capacity for the short trip down the cliff-face to the bar and nearby Kisik seafood restaurant.
It has also added a new Rock Bar Merchandise Boutique to meet demand for signature Rock Bar branded attire and accessories.
“We are very grateful for the support of our guests and partners, which has seen the Rock Bar achieve such success since it opened one year ago,” said AYANA’s General Manager Charles de Foucault. “We were lucky soon after the bar’s opening in August 2009 to welcome Third Eye Blind to AYANA, and have Stephan Jenkins give an impromptu performance ‘on the rocks’, so it was very fitting that they headlined the event this year. It is this highest caliber of world-class entertainment that sets the Rock Bar apart, and complements the stunning design and picture-perfect views.”
The extension reflects the same minimalist design as the original bar, created by Japan’s Yasuhiro Koichi to emphasize the natural beauty and layout of the rocky outcrop on AYANA’s Kisik Beach. All seats and day-beds provide uninterrupted views of the ocean and coastline, while a new DJ booth provides an elevated position for performances from international and local artists. Regular performers include DJ Martin East, Flamenco guitarist Tah RiQ, and DJ Yuki.
The Rock Bar is one of 13 dining outlets at AYANA, which was voted the #1 Spa Resort in the World in the 2010 Conde Nast Traveller Readers’ Awards, amongst the Top 20 Hotels for Value by Travel + Leisure readers, and Asia’s Leading Luxury Resort in the 2009 World Travel Awards. The 77-hectare property, which includes 78 private pool villas and a 290-room hotel, has been nominated in four categories in the 2010 World Travel Awards.
