“ROCKS IN YOUR BED? CONSIDER IT DONE.”
AYANA APPOINTS DYNAMIC ROOMS EAM TO JOIN NEW MANAGEMENT TEAM FOLLOWING REBRANDING
It’s all about personal preference at AYANA Resort and Spa Bali, where the new Rooms Executive Assistant Manager (EAM) brings an innovative approach to service.
“If a guest is more comfortable with rocks in his pillow, it is not our place to question that,” says Clive Edwards, who joins the resort following its rebranding on April 1.
“We will provide rocks in his pillow, and then when we prepare his lounge chair at the Ocean Beach Pool, we will put rocks in his pillow there too, and we would even arrange for that on the plane on his way home. Our concept of service does not end upon their departure.”
Finding particular satisfaction in surprising and ‘wowing’ guests, Clive’s dynamic, service-based approach will apply to all aspects of the in-room amenities and service at AYANA’s 78 luxury villas and 290-room hotel. With 13 years’ experience in luxury resorts, he believes in service that is delivered with care and sincerity, without pretention, and which anticipates guests’ needs.
“In the Rooms Division, you have the opportunity every day to make somebody’s experience out of this world, from check-in to departure. We are blessed to enjoy the natural hospitality of Bali and we enhance this with innovative service to produce ‘wow’ factors every day.
"I had a guest just this morning tell me that this resort has such warmth and personality, it’s as if the flowers even smile back at you. That is what makes AYANA more than just a collection of great facilities in a beautiful location. It is what transforms the typical vacation to a resort into something much more memorable: a vacation to a destination, a vacation to a culture, a vacation to a friendship, which is what the West Paces service philosophy embodies."
The Jamaican joins new General Manager Charles de Foucault and Food & Beverage EAM Marc Dobbels following AYANA’s rebranding on April 1, as an independent property managed by Horst Schulze’s West Paces Hotel Group. The much-acclaimed resort’s owners remain the same, as do the majority of its staff, many of whom have been there since its opening in 1996, such as Sales and Marketing Director Haryadi Satriono and Spa Director Michi Sonoda.
Apart from enhancing the service philosophy, Clive’s role also involves overseeing the décor and comfort provided in each guest room, where Bali’s rich artistic heritage manifests itself in canopied beds, elegant furnishings and quality artworks, alongside modern technology and designer bathroom products.
He joins AYANA from the Solis Palmyra Resort and Spa, another West Paces Hotel Group property, where he was Director of Rooms Operations. Before that, he managed the 186-room Sandals Royal Caribbean Beach Resort and Off-Shore Island in Jamaica, the Beaches Sandy Bay Beach Resort, and was Rooms Division Manager at the 453-room Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort and Spa.
His appointment comes as AYANA prepares to launch Bali’s most spectacular sunset venue, The Rock Bar, located on a rocky outcrop at the base of the cliffs over a white-sand beach.
